 Limited editionThe Dutch pop scene — often called the Nederbiet scene — has always been packed with talented bands. Think of names like De Buitenstaanders, Lading, Kosmische Dealer, Bewegingen, Schokkende Blauw, Ahora Mazda, Q'65, Sprookje, Na De Thee, Groep 1850, and Fun — all icons from the past. But there was so much more! Only a few people know about bands such as Lawine, Spiegel, Elluffant, Fragile, Flux, Obelisque, Les Gosses, Kracq, Tamalone, Voize, and Macreel.What did these groups have in common? They all had hundreds of fans and played fantastic music, but never quite broke through with a major record deal. Some didn’t even want one; they simply enjoyed playing together and making the music they loved. Using their own money — or with help from family or a generous sponsor — they released their albums themselves, the so-called private pressings.There were many reasons to do this: hoping to break through, to pay off their instruments, or simply as a keepsake for their fans. Music has always been my passion. The idea for this book came when I realized there was hardly any information out there, leaving other collectors with nothing to read about these bands.
